Formalities
Visas: You need a passport of current validity, valid one month after the end of your stay. The E.U nationals don't need visas anymore to go to Ukraine.
Money: the national currency is the Hryvna (pronounce grivna) and its symbol is UAH. The exchange rate for 1 GBP is 9,89292 UAH and for 1 USD 5,04600 UAH. Most of the bank cards are accepted in restaurants and stores. Big cities have a good network of cash dispensers. Foreign exchange offices are also numerous in all the big cities.
Driving: If you rent a car, you must have an international driving licence. The traffic checks are frequent in order to control the speed and to measure the alcohol content in the bloodstream. The legal limit in ukraine is 0,0 g/liter.
Insurance: Ukraine has signed agreements of mutual medical care with certain countries, of which Great Britain. It is advised to subscribe to an insurance policy which will cover you in case of cancellation of your journey, flight, loss of your things, disease or accident. Verify the correspondence of the clauses of your contract with the nature of the activities (sports notably) which you will make in Ukraine.
Vaccine:No vaccine is compulsory to go in Ukraine, but be certain that you are up to date in your boosters against the diphtheria, the poliomyelitis, the tetanus, the hepatitis A and the typhoid.
Water: In the cities, prefer the water in bottle to the tap water, including for the brushing of teeth. Spring water in the Carpathian mountains and in Crimea is drinkable.
