| Don't miss out in Lvov
You can begin the discovery of the city of Lvov, by a magnificent panorama on the old town, from the hill of the high-castle (Zamkova Hora), where remain the ruins of the castle built by prince Danylo Romanovytch in the XIIIth century.
The old town and the marketplace ( Plochtcha Rynok): historic heart of Lvov, alleys surrounding the place hosted printers workshops, chemist's, shoe-repairers shops, as well as craftsmen's diverse workshops. The names of streets testifie of the presence of the numerous communities which lived there. You will be surprised falling nose to nose with the statues of Amphitrite, Neptune or Diana surrounding the city hall, flanked by its tower of renaissance style. Be attentive to the sculptures which decorate the façades of houses having belonged in Greek, Armenian or Italian traders. Some of these buildings host henceforth museums.
The opera: this building builds by the Viennese architect Gorgolevski is the pride of the city. Richly decorated outside, the inside is simply luxurious. We recommend you strongly this visit.
The Boyim chapel: built on order of the Hungarian trader Georges Boim between 1609 and 1615, it presents a façade richly decorated with magnificent sculptures, which represent some members of this illustrious family. The sculpure of the Christ on the dome of the chapel presents an at least subversive character.
The cemetery of Lytchakivsky: place of burial of illustrious characters (artists, composers, scientists). About 400.000 persons are buried there. During this indispensable walk, you can admire steles and other funeral vaults which will remind you inevitably the Père-Lachaise cemetery in Paris
The bell tower Korniakt and the Dormition church: built between 1591 and 1629, the church is accompanied by a bel tower of 65 metres high which was financed by a rich Greek trader. The inside, of Ukrainian orthodox style is magnificent.
The Armenian church: It was built by the Armenian community in the XIIIth century. In front of the building,towers up the column surmounted by St-Christophe's representation, with nearby, the palace of the Armenian archbishop.
The monastery of the Dominicans: built by the architect Jean de Witte, the building topped by a big green dome is a beautiful example of baroque architecture.
The monastery of the Bernardins: the building combines the bernardine church St-Andrew, the buildings of the monastery, the bell towers and defensive bulwarks decorated with columns.
The Saint Georges cathedral : An Ukrainian baroque masterpiece, the facade is decorated with saints' faces executed by the sculptor Joannes Pinzel.
